Japan has announced its first major revision to visa fees in nearly 50 years. The new visa charges will apply to applications submitted on or after 1 July 2026.
What Has Changed?
For most foreign nationals, Japan has increased visa fees significantly:
- Single-Entry Visa: From ¥3,000 to ¥15,000
- Multiple-Entry Visa: From ¥6,000 to ¥30,000
The revision has been introduced to reflect rising administrative costs, inflation, and exchange rate changes.
Good News for Indian Travellers 🇮🇳
Indian passport holders will continue to enjoy the special visa fee arrangement through the Embassy of Japan in India.
Current charges for Indian applicants remain:
- Japan Visa Fee: ₹500
- VFS Service Charge: Applicable separately.
This means Indian travellers are largely unaffected by the global fee increase.
